Amino acids are important in our daily life. They have Grs Ultra specific functions that aids in metabolism. Amino acids are molecules that consist of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. One of the known amino acids is taurine. Taurine, an amino acid that is important in the body's metabolism and also in brain development. It has high levels of amino sulfonic acid that can be seen in different body systems such as the skeletal, the central nervous system and the muscular.
It can also be found in white blood cells, seaweeds, bacteria and fungi. It was discovered in the bile of an ox in 1827 by Leopold Gmelin and Friedrich Tiedermann who are Austrian scientists. Since it was identified from an ox's bile, the scientist then named it taurine. Taurine is derived from Taurus, a Latin word which means the "bull". Bile is a secretion that helps in the body's metabolism. It is responsible for breaking down of fats, digestion and then helps in absorption of fat soluble vitamins from foods that we eat.
Taurine has a very important role in brain development, for newborns do not have the capability to produce taurine yet. There are studies that show taurine playing a role in the development of the eye. In case of premature infants or newborns, there are milk formulas where taurine is included to make certain that the proper development of the brain and eyes are met. Adults on the other hand can produce taurine with the help of vitamin B6 or pyridoxine. Taurine can also be found in foods such as in meat and fish proteins.
